As a lifelong Alexandrian, I’ve been shaped by the school system and the culture of this city.
The teachers, students and great education I received at ACPS helped shape my life. I attended George Mason Elementary School, George Washington Middle School and graduated from ACHS in 2017. I received my B.A. in Political Science and German from Lewis and Clark College. Currently, I work for the United States Senate Budget Committee as a non-partisan Hearing Clerk and volunteer my time as a member of the ACPS Budget Advisory Committee (BAC).
I was incredibly fortunate throughout my time at ACPS having the space and energy to get the help I needed. I received a solid academic foundation and was able to explore my passions. I played double bass for eight years, acted in middle school, created my own “one acts” club in high school and took automotive technology classes. In taking a range of regular, honors, D.E. and A.P. classes, I was able to see a greater slice of life in Alexandria than I otherwise would have. That is what is great about our system - one unified high school gives our students the opportunity to see and become friends with students of different socioeconomic backgrounds, races, ethnicities and identities.
My time in college and my working life solidified my love of local politics. Here in our city, voters know their elected officials, talk to them and are able to see the results of policy changes. When I returned home in 2021 during the height of the Pandemic, I looked for ways to rejoin my community. I joined the Alexandria Democratic Committee, became a deputy precinct captain for Blessed Sacrament and joined Ashley Simpson Baird’s successful school board campaign. In my job at the U.S. Senate Budget Committee, I run hearings, do administrative work, deal with bureaucracy and ensure the smooth functioning of the Committee so that both sides are productive.
My entire life I have been a mediator, listening and bringing people together. I promise to do my homework and be a great School Board member for District B.
